From a list of Company D, Chunky Heroes Co. D 3rd Reg't Mississippi Vol's Confederate Army it showed that John N. Brooks was Killed. This Reg't had 27 killed and 26 to die of disease.
John married Millicent C. "Millie" MOORE, daughter of Hardy Lemuel "Lem" MOORE, on 9 Dec 1838 in Sumter Co., AL. Millicent was born 1816 in Johnston Co., NC. She died 1895 in Home Place near Duffee, Newton, MS and was buried NEWTON CO., MS in Moore Cemetery [AKA Walker Graveyard]..

Family account is that he was kicked in the head by a horse at a young age. John was not listed on the 1870 census and we can assume that he was deceased. |
