My
Newton County Connection
with the
HARRISON Family
The 1840 and 1850 Perry County, AL census with the 1860 Newton County, MS census was used to determine that Middleton Harrison was the father of Lewis Harrison and John D. Harrison. The only other piece of record that I have that may tie Lewis Harrison to Middleton is a Shotgun given to my brother by our grandfather (William Henry Harrison) and stated that it had been handed down from his father or grandfather. On the Stock of the old muzzleloader is the name Middleton. No other name is on the gun so it may be that Middleton was a Black Smith or Gunsmith and made the gun
I would thanks the descendants of John D. Harrison who worked so hard to update this family and gave the information to be use in a book that was published in 1997.
